Hotel Grande Bretagne (1906 – 1909 circa)
Via Don Giovanni Minzoni, 3, Montecatini-Terme, PT, Italia
Alberghi storici
Description
This hotel is one of the first important projects by Raffaello Brizzi, who is responsible for the construction of the Palazzo Comunale.
The hotel, built in an area not far from the Stazione Centro expressly intended for the expansion of the city, was originally called Nuovo Albergo Silvestri from the name of the owner and cousin of Brizzi.
In this building, the architect from Montecatini but Florentine by adoption, uses an architectural style typical of 19th-century central Europe, well exemplified by the work of Otto Wagner.
The facade is richly decorated with pictorial and sculptural elements.
