Acquired by the foundation, the collection features a large number of 20th-century works intended to re-arrange the original collection headquarters, Villa Ortensie, once its restoration is completed.
For the time being, the collection is hosted on a rotation basis at the ViVal Banca headquarters in Viale Ugo Foscolo 16/B.
The Museum of the Academy of Art of Montecatini was founded in 1963 on the initiative of Prof. Dino Scalabrino, at the time the health director of the spa and director of the autonomous health and stay company, at the time of the maximum splendor of Montecatini spas.

The works were donated by artists, gallery owners and visitors and above all heirs of the artists who participated in the original initiative to create a museum for the city with their generous contribution. Of particular interest is the large panel by Galileo Chini “Primavera Classica” which, created for the Venice Biennale of 1914, is one of the most splendid Italian examples of Art Nouveau.
