Description
Situato all’estremità est del parco termale cittadino, il complesso La Salute è ricompreso tra via della Salute, dove ha l’accesso principale, via Diaz su cui era ubicato l’accesso storico, e via Cristoforo Colombo su cui ha un ampio accesso carrabile al parco.
Lo stabilimento comprende cinque corpi di fabbrica collegati tra loro da un caratteristico percorso porticato, il tutto circondato da un vasto parco dell’estensione di circa tre ettari.
In esso era possibile la mescita di tutte le acque.
In the two-story square building located immediately after the entrance building, the “mescitrici” served customers, through the nine openings on the facade, the waters coming from the various thermal springs.
On via Diaz, near the Palazzina Presidenziale LINK TO SCHEDA, is located, inside a Renaissance-style well, a copy of the one located in Piazza della Sala in Pistoia, the spring that gives its name to the establishment.
Discovered in 1860 in a travertine quarry belonging to Mr. Benedetto Gabrielli, it was named in honor of the curative drinking waters that flowed from it.
The Terme della Salute were rebuilt and expanded between 1922 and 1929 during the renovation works of the thermal buildings that had a great architect in the engineer Ugo Giovannozzi.
With Giovannozzi's work, the establishment appears as a set of various brick buildings connected by a portico that connects all the services.
Among the spas in the city, La Salute is undoubtedly the most "rocky" due to its poorer architecture, due to the type of materials used in the construction and, above all, in the finishing of the buildings, but its park is certainly one of the most impressive.
