Description

The premises, which had once housed a theatre, were purchased by Bruno Tintorini in the 1930s to turn them into a mechanical workshop.
The garage was however built over twenty years later, in 1956.
The garage project by Carmelo Pucci (Montecatini Terme 1917 – 1987) became a model of modern architecture for work in the city.
The building is characterised by the fact that the pillars, on the very large ground floor, are not in the centre but rather distributed next to the walls in order to gain more space for the car garage.
To illuminate the structure, one of the internal walls is made of glass cement.
The first and second floors are connected by a helical driveway ramp surrounded by glass plates and on the third floor there is a terrace.
Visible on the facade are the typical reinforced concrete beams and, on the right, a star-shaped window where the Alfa Romeo logo could once be seen.
The garage is still active today.
In the city, the engineer from Montecatini left his mark in many buildings such as, for example, the Mariotti stadium, the municipal swimming pool, the ex Lazzi building and the Verdi Theatre in which he designed the fixed tensile structure covering of the stalls.
